Sjøstrand Rorbuer is idyllically located on a traditional fish farm in Ballstad in Lofoten. Here, you will get the real "Lofot-feeling". The fish farm was run by fish buyer Johan Rist from the early 1900s and he lived here with his employees.
The cabins also housed travelling fishermen that participated in "lofotfisket" during the winter. After a while his two sons took over the daily operation of the company and from 1950-1985, the company was run under the name Johan Rist & sønner (Johan Rist & sons).
In 1991 when we bought the fish receiving company, we immediately started improving the equiment so that we could produce our own catch, so called "self-production". Then we started the laborious work of preparing the cabins for rental. By the summer of 1994, we had two cabins for rental. Coastal fishing was prioritized for a couple of years, because that's what we do for a living. Renting out cabins was mostly a hobby, but the enjoyment that followed made this a very pleasant additional business, with a lot of value.
Today we have:

- 5 cottages
- 3 extra bedrooms with 4/5 beds
- 15 caravan spaces
- 8-10 tenting spaces with access to tea-kitchen and living room
- Sauna
- Service-building with shower, wc, washing machine and tumble dryer
